What is Clown Encuentro?

Clown Encuentro means "Clown Encounter" or "Meeting of Clowns." Clown Encuentro is an international collaboration of artists that produces diverse events including an annual conference of workshops, panel discussions, performances, public interventions and more, focused around the art of clown and clowning. Clown Encuentro acknowledges that clowning takes on a wide range of artistic forms whose common goal is to explore our shared humanity. We believe that today clowning is evolving as a global movement for social transformation. Clown Encuentro supports this process by providing an open space for dialogue, networking, training, and research. Dialogue Facilitating cultural exchange between different forms and styles of clown. Networks Generating links between artists who use clowning as a tool. Learning Providing opportunities for training and hands-on practice with experts in bthe field.
